RYA
Youth Sailing Scheme:
We run junior courses at Easter, Whitsun and
through the summer holidays. The scheme has
three stages at introductory level. We don't
set a minimum age for lessons but we often find
that children under the age of 8 find half day
courses too long. They may like to try a shorter
taster session instead.
Stage One
is for absolute beginners and gives a sound
introduction to the sport.
Stage Two
is for young sailors with a little experience
and will build their skills and confidence.
We sometimes manage to complete one and part
of two if the sailor progresses really well
in a week.
Stage Three
teaches the final pieces of information and
experience to get the young sailors sailing
competently by themselves. Students will need
at least a weeks' experience prior to taking
the course.
Stage Four Introducing the skills to sail a double handed dinghy with confidence, as helm or crew, and solve a variety of problems afloat.
The scheme now follows the adult one offering five strands to meet your interest. Choose from; sailing with spinnakers, day sailing, seamanship skills, start racing or performance sailing. |
